General Info + Tips

Temperature: The climate in Oahu is perfect year-round. So much so, that many people believe it has the best weather of all the islands. Even during winter (mid-November to March), temperatures are still around 80°F (26°C). During summer, high averages typically range somewhere between 85 and 90 °F (30–32 °C). With weather like this, you’ll find so many things to do in Oahu.

Language: When visiting Oahu, you’ll find that the locals typically speak Hawaiian and English.

Currency: As Hawaii is a state of the USA, tourists should often expect to use U.S. Dollars in their everyday life here.

If you are flying from Austin, @hawaiianairlines just launched a new non-stop flight to Oahu. We flew first class while enjoying the highest level of comfort and unlimited Mai Tai’s. It’s a girl’s dream!

Packing Must-Haves + Travel Accommodation

Entering Hawaii: Ensure you prepare for your trip to Hawaii with the State of Hawaii’s Safe Travels Program requirements. I have the Vaccine, so I could upload my vaccine card into the Safe Travels online system, which allowed me to bypass the COVID test. For a complete guide on current Hawaii entry requirements, click here.

Packing Must Haves: Planning on visiting Oahu? Make sure you pack right: Reef-safe sunscreen, U.V. protection clothing, hiking sandals, waterproof phone case, sunglasses, hat, small first aid kit, 2-3 bathing suits, a small backpack, beach hat, and a portable charger.

Airline: If you’re thinking of booking your getaway to paradise, then you have to start your journey with Hawaiian Airlines. It’s no secret that I fly… a lot. But Hawaii has quickly made its way to the top of my favorites list. We flew first class, with comfortable seating, mouth-watering snacks, and Hawaiian-themed entertainment. Specifically, I felt the true Aloha spirit on my flight. In addition, the staff were sincerely dedicated and went out their way to provide me with excellent customer service during the trip.

Car Rental: Renting a Jeep from @avis will give you the flexibility to explore the island at your own pace. There is a lot to explore on the island, so why not do it conveniently and in style! I lived my dream as @hawaiianairlines hooked me up with a gorgeous white open-top jeep!

Luxury Places to Stay

Alohilani Resort: The luxury of a high-rise beachfront hotel in Waikiki is nothing short of spectacular. I got to take advantage and enjoy an ocean view suite in Alohilani Resort, with the balcony overlooking everything! From beautiful blue waves crashing onshore, to some truly amazing views – it was a fantasy.

Not only did we get access to all kinds of amenities, but we also had easy access to every girl’s best friend – shopping. If you want something luxurious without having to go too far out your way, then Alohilani Resort would be perfect!

Luxury Things to do in Oahu

Canoeing: The 3-hour canoe ride to Mokes Island was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The guides (@koacanoes) were wonderful, teaching us about the local history and culture throughout the journey while educating us with interesting facts and anecdotes that made every moment memorable. One highlight for me was when we explored Queens Bath; it’s an incredible spot where you’re able to see just how beautiful nature is! – @koacanoes

Explore: When visiting Oahu, you can’t miss out on the secret island, a catamaran ride, and an ATV Raptor Tour with @kualoaranch! With a guide by our side, we embarked on an open-air adventure through Kualoa Ranch in the lush Ka’a’awa Valley. On our journey, we passed through filming sites from Jurassic Park and other Hollywood movies, and caught a glimpse of some breathtaking views as we plunged over streams and muddied up our ATV – @kualoaranch

Byodo-In Temple: The Byodo-In Temple has to be on your list of things to do in Oahu. This Buddhist temple welcomes people of all faiths to worship, meditate, or simply just appreciate its beauty. When you walk through the magnificent archways, you’ll be greeted with stunning architecture and breathtaking scenery, which will make your heart fill up with awe.

Beach: While visiting Oahu, don’t forget to stop by Lanikai Beach’s emerald blue water and white sand. You might also want to check out Makapu’u Tide Pools or Kailua Beach Halona Cove while you’re there!

Luxury Food to Eat

Acai Bowls: @sunriseshack is the place to go for delicious Acai Bowls and various other superfood dishes. Also, they feature healthy food from around the world with fresh local produce grown on the island!

Portuguese Donuts: This little place is full of history! They do some of the best Portuguese donuts, and they’re all fresh and made to order. With that being said, I highly recommend this taste of Hawaii for those looking for something new downtown or who just want an extra treat with their coffee. – @leaonardsbakery

Shaved Ice: You HAVE to hit up @matsumotoshaveice for one of the best shaved ice. I ordered a regular shaved ice with Lychee, Guava, Lolo Lilikol, and a condensed milk snowcap topping – it was delicious and well worth the visit!

Haleiwa Joe’s: Haleiwa Joe’s fusion menu promises both traditional dishes and inventive creations. From fresh fish to quality steaks, Haleiwa Joe’s culinary team is ready with the perfect dish for your next meal out. If you love salmon, I highly recommend trying the Asian Pesto Grilled Salmon dish. It’s so good, boasting a complex flavor that is sure to make your mouth water.
